Radius Indiana delivered a low-interest loan in January through its Intermediary Relending Program (IRP) to Cornerstone Farms to support the renovation of the former Child Craft facility in Salem. The financing will help prepare the historic industrial site for E&H Tubing, a Brownstown-based mechanical steel tube mill and manufacturer, as it expands its operations into the community.

Once complete, the facility will house E&H Tubing, Inc., which will invest in  new equipment and additional production capactiy as part of its growth strategy. The expansion is expected to generate new employment opportunities and attract additional private investment to the region.

The Radius loan is part of the overall financing package making the renovations possible, allowing the facility to be refitted to meet E&H's operational needs. E&H produces a wide range of steel tubing products — including round, square, and speciality-shaped tubing in galvanized, cold-rolled, and hot-rolled forms — along with value-added fabrication services and custom cut-to-length solutions. The company's products are used for agriculture, metal buildings, trailers, gates, greenhouses, boat docks, material handling equipment, and lawn-and-garden manufacturing.

"We are grateful for this assistance from Radius, which helps us complete the financing we needed for this building renovation," said Aaron Lee, General Manager of Cornerstone Family Farms in Salem. "The Radius loan program's affordable terms made this project feasible, and we're pleased that E&H chose Salem as the site for their growth."

Radius's loan program is funded through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development. USDA provides capital to Radius, which in turn lends the funds to businesses within its service area to promote economic growth. Radius repays the full amount of IRP funds it receives, and earnings from the program remain in a permanent revolving loan fund to support additional entrepreneurs, start-ups, and expanding businesses across the region.

"USDA Rural Development is excited to announce the release of a new project, Radius Indiana, Inc. This Rural Development investment will be used to support the established revolving loan fund operated by Radius," said Steven Howell, USDA Rural Development Indiana State Director. "Radius has been serving nine counties in Southern Indiana since 2009. Many of these counties include very small communities that likely would struggle to fund significant projects or improvements without funding support from this subsequent Intermediary Relending Program loan. This project will support loval communities through the development of programs to help entrepreneurs, start-ups and existing businesses succeed and grow in the region."

Radius became aware of the need to rehabilitate the former Child Craft building through discussions with the Washington County Economic Growth Partnership.

"We are gratefule to Radius Indiana for their continued investment in Washington County and their support of projects that strengthen our local economy," said Ashley Conrad, Executive Director of the Washington County Economic Growth Partnership. "This funding will assist with additional building renovations and help support the continued growth of E&H Tubing. Partnerships like this encourage reinvestment and help position our community for long-term success."

"This project is a great example of the value of a team working together," said Jeff Quyle, President and CEO of Radius Indiana. "Cornerstone, the Washington County Economic Growth Partnership, the city of Salem, and Radius all saw the need to collaborate to make this a success, and we know that everyone will benefit from this growth by the company."

This collaboration highlights the importance of regional partnerships in revitalizing existing facilities, supporting local businesses, and fostering long-term economic development in southern Indiana.
